This is a fest to promote more Harry Potter podfics! All podficcers from experienced to brand new are welcomed. Podfics can range from drabbles to epic podfics of epicness. Gen, Het, Femmeslash, and Slash in all ratings are all welcomed.

Podfic Broken Telephone 2017

Podfic Broken Telephone creates a new kind of challenge based on the game Broken Telephone. Here's how the mods describe it:

Here’s how it works: Person A (your friendly neighbourhood mod) makes a podfic. It becomes the prompt for Person B. Person B’s podfic becomes a prompt for Person C’s podfic. And down the line we go until everyone’s had a turn.

Using a podfic as a prompt means that each podiccer will pick at least one key element from their prompt podfic and use it in their work. A key element could be, but isn’t limited to: fandom, character, ship, trope, format (dialogue-only, epistolary, etc) or podficcing style (SFX, music, accents, etc). Think of “key element” as something about the podfic that you’d talk about in a rec.

The sign-ups are currently open on a rolling basis.

Sam Wilson's Birthday Bang 2017

Sam Wilson's Birthday Bang is a Sam Wilson-centric fanwork challenge accepting podfic as complement content. The mods describe it thus:

Hey Sam Wilson fans! We’re throwing him a birthday party. We’re looking for writers, artists, beta readers, and content creators of all kinds to participate in the Sam Wilson Birthday Bang.

Sign ups are OPEN and run from July 1st to July 31st.

First, writers will begin writing fanfic. Their summaries will be due August 13th. Shortly after, claims open and artists will each pick a fic from an anonymous list of summaries. Then they create art (fan art! gifs! pod fic! playlist!) based on the fic.

Maybe push you out of your comfort zone and to try different styles, production techniques, or new types of stories in a safe learning environment. If you've always wanted to try something different when podficcing, this community can be your excuse!

The Podfic Big Bang is an annual challenge aiming to increase the number of long podfics available to the fannish community. Podficcers are asked to record a story of approximately 10,000+ words from the fandom of their choice; artists are then invited to collaborate with the podficcer by contributing cover art, sound effects, music or other creative enhancements. Betas and cheerleaders are also welcome (and encouraged) to offer their services in producing podfic projects.

pod_together is a annual challenge for writers and podficcers to collaborate on creating (pod)fics specifically to be recorded. Here's how the comm's profile describes it:

Welcome to pod_together (also mirrored on Livejournal, twitter and tumblr)! A challenge where writers and podficcers join together to create awesome projects - the writer writing something specifically to be podficced, and the podficcer recording it.

Why are we doing this?

Reason One: A lot of podfic meta talks about the connection between podfic acting and TV or movie acting. But there haven't been many stories written specifically for podfic before. This challenge will give us a chance to take that analogy a step further, and also dispel some of the sense that podfic is nothing but a format shift for stories intended to be read on paper.

Reason Two: We think it will be a fun and interesting challenge for writers to write something specifically meant to be performed. For podficcers, the interesting challenge will be figuring out how to adapt to this format and bring the story to life.

If you don't know already, this is a bingo challenge with the objective to produce one fanwork for each square on a card that will form a bingo (a line, a cross, a plus sign, a frame, or a diamond - more details can be found in the rules).
